Woodmen of America
In the early 1900s Tuberculosis was a major disease. A medical movement was happening with sanitariums being created in the west. Denver and Colorado was a hot point due to the dry air and weather as well as the increased elevation thought to help reduce the symptoms of Tuberculosis. Another movement was benevolent orders set up like insurance companies to help certain groups of people. One of the groups was the Woodmen of America and the group ran a sanitarium in Colorado Springs. The architecture of the cabins at the sanitarium are very unique and recognizable. In addition, the wood was donated by lumber companies.
